Check Printing using JacanaForms
JacanaForms includes the capability for your organization to realize
all the advantages of producing checks in house -- eliminate continuous
pre-printed stationery costs; get rid of secure storage for check stock;
avoid expensive changes to application software; apply laser signatures
and enhance quality and corporate image by using LaserJet
printers.
JacanaForms provides all the features you require for check design
e.g. boxes, lines, half tone shading, logos, fixed text and signatures,
and any other design feature supported by the printer. Check output
printing onto blank pre-colored stationery is ideal.
However, there are several hardware and software considerations that
require attention. You need a printer that is MICR (Magnetic Ink
Character Recognition) enabled - with a MICR chip (DIMM) and special
MICR toner installed. JacanaForms will use the MICR font (MICR E-13B) in
the check design process and automatically detect and activate the 'MICR
mode' operation in the printer.
Momentum favors Hewlett Packard LaserJet 'MICR Enabled' printers for
check printing in combination with the HP JetCaps program (www.jetcaps.com).
Security is invariably an issue and different levels of security can be
applied using the JetCaps DIMM.
With a little pre-planning the introduction of check printing can be
straightforward. If you would like to discuss your requirements for
check printing with Momentum it is helpful to know:
- your current process for check printing
- projected check volumes i.e. peak and daily throughput
requirements - this will influence the choice of printer model
- specific requirements such as whether you are planning to
rationalize form requirements to combine the check with related
output e.g. payroll or invoice transaction details
- the printers you are planning to assign to check printing and
their locations - centralized or de-centralized. Physical controls
over the use of MICR may be appropriate.
You may also need to ensure that you have approval from your Bank to
use electronic checks!
A telephone discussion is normally sufficient to highlight any issues
that might get overlooked. If you would like to speak to one of our
consultants please contact us. We will
be delighted to help.
